Professional Scuba Instruction is the premier private instructional institution for scuba diving in the Washington DC metro area. We service Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. The instructors at PSI offer a wide range of classes from basic Open Water Diver all the way through technical diving. All of our instructors hold instructor level certifications beyond the minimum required courses set by training agency standards. Additionally, most of our affiliated instructors hold technical instructor ratings from Technical Diving International.

                                                        

MISSION:
Our company will provide you with all of your scuba diving needs from education to travel at a price that will be a better value than any dive shop. Whether you are a novice or a highly trained technical diver looking to further your diving education we can provide you with quality one on one or small group (2-4 people) training a diver needs to succeed. We do sell dive gear, but we encourage out students to support their local dive shop if possible. The instructors at PSI will also work with our students on gear purchases from other shops. PSI has a close working relationship with numerous dive shops in our area which allows our students to purchase the best gear for their individual needs. Dive shops focus on GEAR SALES, which leaves us to focus on what we do best, DIVER EDUCATION.

PHILOSOPHY:
Classes need to be smaller than what regular dive shops offer in order to enhance student learning. Therefore we at PSI utilize small class sizes with proven teaching techniques which allow students to learn the material at the fastest pace possible while keeping costs down. Each course is tailored to individual student needs and progresses at a pace comfortable for the student. Courses can be set up to have the knowledge portion as a traditional instructor led lecture approach, independent study, or a mixture of approaches. Pool sessions and open water dives are taught only by experienced instructors. You, along with your instructor, will determine when you are ready for your certification dives. They will not be forced upon you if you feel that you are not ready and need more time.

CLASS SIZE AND STRUCTURE:
All of our courses are private (one on one) or semi-private (group of two to four people) utilizing a course structure for the classroom portion of either a traditional lecture style, independent study, or a mixture of both. This is in conjunction with pool sessions that are followed by open water certification dives which allow students to show mastery of skills learned in all phases of training.

TYPES OF CLASSES:
PSI offers diver training from entry level scuba classes known as open water diver programs all the way through technical training, including professional level courses like dive master, assistant instructor, and instructor.  We offer fire rescue, and police dive team training to teams that need specialized training. Besides diving classes, we offer a full line of first responder medical training tailored not only to the diving community but also to the general public. We also offer specific group courses to Boy Scouts so that they can earn the Scuba Diving Merit Badge.

INSTRUCTIONAL PACKAGES:
As explained above, our courses are individualized. This means that what each course includes in the way of time, gear, location, etc... can be changed as necessary. Our prices for courses will contain everything needed to complete the course from start to finish and receive certification as noted for the specific course. What you are expected to supply and what we will supply will be clearly detailed in the course description. There are no hidden fees PERIOD! If you do not need something for a course (like rental gear) speak with the instructor beforehand.
