Wreck Level I
Diving on wrecks is exhilarating. Wrecks are a glimpse into history – as you swim along the deck, imagine the crew that used to tend the lines, the cargo it once carried, and maybe the storm that led to its demise. During your Wreck Level I course you will learn the proper techniques to perform wreck surveys, map wrecks, and use a reel to lay line for wreck penetrations. This course is a limited penetration course allowing only 130 feet of linear penetration. Students will conduct four open water dives required for certification that are conducted over a minimum of two days. The Wreck Level I course opens up many popular diving sites around the world. This course is a prerequisite for Wreck Level II (Technical Wreck Diver) and will prepare you for bigger wreck diving adventures when you enroll in the Technical Wreck course.
Wreck Level II
Are you a history buff or do you just have an urge to explore wrecks? Have you dreamed about getting deep inside your favorite wreck to explore the engine room? The Technical Wreck Diver course will build on the skills you learned from your basic wreck course so that you can develop the skills needed to safely penetrate into the no light zone of wrecks. Since the ultimate goal of technical wreck diving is exploration, a team approach rooted in DIR principles is taught from day one. Your training will cover many aspects of proper wreck diving.

The course will begin with an overview of maritime law covering both international and local laws for diving, salvage, and permitting for scuba diving activities. Then an extensive discussion on equipment and its proper use will ensue. Land drills will also be conducted so that the proper techniques can be learned in a controlled environment before entering a diving environment. By conducting land drills, the student develops muscle memory so that in water skills will be fluid, smooth, and precise. Hazards of advanced wreck diving, contingency planning, complex navigation, and gas management in an overhead environment are just some of the topics covered in extensive detail so that our students understand safe wreck penetration protocols.

The advanced wreck training a diver receives at Professional Scuba Instruction will prepare students to dive in challenging wreck environments. The goal of a PSI Technical Wreck course is to give students the confidence and techniques to explore wrecks, therefore we use multiple training sites so that students gain the proper experience. Students train in diverse environments so that they are perpared to execute dives within their training limits. If you are ready to take the next step and truly explore, then the Technical Wreck Diver course is for you.
