Cylinder Service

Divers who own both steel and aluminum cylinders know that they need to have their cylinders hydrostatically tested once every five years and visually inspected every year. But, one of the most over looked component of the cylinder is the valve. The valve should be serviced at a minimum once every five years. PSI belives that the best time to perform this service is at the time of the hydrostatic test. If this is done at that time you benefit by it being both cost effective and the shortest out of service period. Sometimes cylinders require tumbling in order to remove rust, corrosion, or for oxygen cleaning. Most dive shops in the Washington, DC region take weeks to provide this service, but we will have your cylinder back in a timely manner. Their are no long waits for ANY tank related service provided in house.

Oxygen cleaning for cylinders and valves are conducted according to PCI/CGA standards. For more information on these services check out our oxygen cleaning section.

At Professional Scuba Instruction, you can rest assured that our staff members have the most current training from the only Compressed Gas Association (CGA) approved training agency in the industry (Professional Cylinder Inspectors - PCI/PSI). This means that you will receive the best tank maintenance knowing that all the services we perform are done right the first time and returned to you on time.

Oxygen Cleaning

Technical divers and advanced recreational divers require the use of greater than 21% oxygen concentration in their breathing gases. Because of this, the gear that these divers use must be serviced for this harsh environment. Oxygen can be a dangerous gas if mishandled, but rest assured that the service staff of Professional Scuba Instruction has an extensive background with oxygen cleaning applications pertaining to diving and non-diving markets. We follow strict CGA standards for oxygen cleaning and servicing. Our staff has been trained by multiple agencies in the proper procedures for oxygen cleaning your equipment. Whether you need your deco regulator cleaned or your cylinders oxygen compatible for mixed gas blending, we can service your gear properly the first time. For your safety, we use only dedicated oxygen cleaned tools while conducting oxygen service work. Unlike most shops we have two sets of tools which is one more step to ensure the cleanliness of your system. If you are not sure if you need oxygen servicing ask our service technician here. Our oxygen cleaning rates are listed in the equipment service rates. Keep in mind that some items have surcharges for shop supplies.
