Quarries are often used for training, but these places also offer a way for divers to just get out and dive. Numerous quarries exist in the Northeast and the list here is only some of the more popular ones that PSI uses.
Bainbridge Scuba Center
This is a 27 acre quarry that has a max depth of 120’ and visibility up to 50’ or more depending on the time of year. Boats, a pump house, a tanker, cars, and many other objects have been submerged at this quarry to vary your diving experience.

Dutch Springs
This is a large quarry offering many different dive sites to the public. Take the link to view all that it has to offer. Like many other quarries, it has number submerged objects to dive upon.

Lake Rawlings
With a maximum depth of 65 feet, warm water, and good visibility (30 to 60 feet), the lake has many wonders to explore. There are a number of cars, boats, and other items scattered throughout the bottom. In fact, Lake Rawlings is so popular among divers that it was rated as one of the TOP 50 DIVE SITES in the U.S. It is only two hours from Washington DC, just south of Richmond.

Millbrook Quarry
This is the local dive spot located just outside Haymarket VA, about 30 minutes from Arlington VA. Conditions vary depending on weather but the water temperatures are as follows:
Spring (open April of each year): Surface temperature 58 to 60 degrees, at 30 feet it is 10-15 degrees colder.
Summer: Surface temperature 68 to 76 degrees; at 30 feet it is ten degrees colder.
Fall: Surface temperature 70 to 76 degrees, at 30 feet it is five degrees colder.
Visibility varies season to season but average is 10 feet in spring and summer and up to 30 feet in the fall.
Willow Springs
This is a site that offers visibility up to 30’ or more depending on the time of year. Boats, a tanker, cars, and many other objects have been submerged at this quarry to vary your diving experience. This is a great place to get certified at.
