Boy Scout Scuba Diver Merit Badge
Open Water Diver Certification
Professional Scuba Instruction offers group courses for Boy Scouts so that they can earn the Scuba Diving Merit Badge. We can accommodate any size troop and train scouts ages 10 and older to become scuba divers. Parents and scouts are encouraged to develop the life long skills to explore the underwater world together. The new divers are encouraged to pursue further training and to enjoy diving by participating in local diving activities. As the scout and their family grows and continues to dive, the instructors of Professional Scuba Instruction will mentor and guide scouts to meet their full diving potential. The Scuba Diving Merit Badge, along with either the PADI or SDI Open Water Diver Course will earn scouts a lifetime scuba certification.

Course Description:
This course is the first course in your diving adventure. It will successfully prepare you for planning and completing open water dives to depths of 60’ (40' if 10 or 11 years old). It covers the basics of diving physiology, physics, environmental concerns, water skills, dive planning, dive gear and much more needed information to dive safely. All of the requirements for the BSA Merit Badge can be found at the following site.

The Open Water Diver course is offered as a complete full certification course with all components completed locally. You complete the knowledge development (classroom time) and skill development (pool time) sessions before you conduct four open water certification divers in order to complete the course.
